Vocational learners must do more than understand course content. They interpret instructions, use specialist terminology, participate in workplace interactions, navigate digital systems and produce evidence in the forms expected by their industry and training program.

I analyse those demands and work with vocational educators to make them visible, teachable and achievable. Support remains connected to the vocational task, rather than becoming a separate generic literacy activity.

An embedded approach

The process starts with the vocational outcome and the evidence learners need to produce. I identify the reading, writing, speaking, listening, numeracy and digital demands within that work, then design support that helps learners participate more independently.

This approach protects vocational rigour. It does not remove essential terminology or simplify the task beyond recognition. Instead, it provides a clearer pathway into the language, reasoning and conventions of the field.

Suitable contexts

The service can support program planning, delivery within a teaching team, targeted learner resources or improvement of a specific assessment sequence. It is particularly useful where educators can see that language and learning demands are affecting participation or the quality of evidence, but need a more precise response.
